This Year / Black River Song was originally only available for pre-orders of Shearwater's Fellow Travelers LP from 2013. Available for sale for the first time, the 2 songs recorded continue the theme of Fellow Travelers in which songs originally written by artists that have toured with Shearwater have been reworked and recorded by Shearwater themselves. "This Year" was originally written by the Mountain Goats, while "Black River Song" was originally an Angels of Light song.
